….. In the Beginning

Being 32 this year, I remember what life was like before the internet. Now I’m not going to harp on about how bad it was, because no one knew any different! 14 years ago I went to a seminar called ‘doing business on the internet’. I was 18, wet behind the ears and at the time i went out of curiosity, not requirement.

Back then the ‘internet’ were segmented networks… not something worldwide as it is today. The provider was called ‘red roof’ and provided a business a way to have an online presence in the form of a text driven page providing contact details… a little bit like a stone age yell.com. The seminar even showed you how to create smiley faces and roses using a combination of letters, numbers and symbols… how very noval! Everything was on dial up back then and because it was so much easier to pick up the actual yellow pages, red roof never really took off.

Fast forward a decade and a smidgen, here we are and the Internet is still developing. We buy holidays, cars, well anything really! It has taken the hard work out of most daily tasks… instant electronic mail, online bank accounts and party invites through facebook. Whether you like it or not, accept it, the internet is here to stay.

Now I’m no technophobe. I’ve worked for bluechip companies, estate agents, ran more than one online business and through years or being in the industry I have no doubt that although things have changed alot, there is much much more to come. I want you to keep an open mind and think about what I am going to tell you… I want to give you an insight of what IS going to happen and why from someone who knows…

First of all ask yourself this question… Why would a company have a website? The thing is a website allows a company or an individual the opportunity to trade 24 hours a day with very low or no overheads. As this is the case, this allows products to be sold for a lower price and be purchased at the buyers convenience in the comfort of their own home and delivered to the door. This totally suits today’s consumers and allows things to be done and bought with minimum or no stress or effort. Retailer and companies do realise this.

The advantage to the business owner is that there are no staff costs, no massive office or shop space required and all in all this means more meat on the bone at the bottom line. If this is the case, why doesn’t all shops close their doors and open up websites? well they might just be forced to do so. All of you must have heard or read articles about high street retailers struggling to compete against the online players. With the economic situation things will only get more difficult and the buyers will be more conscience of costs. As time goes on, more and more businesses that open up will be WEB ONLY and many of the shops and businesses will have to follow suit, close their doors and be only online. So, in 10 years we could see ourselves doing more or less everything online? It goes without saying that if most of peoples time and money is spent online, then we will find our jobs will follow suit and many of us will be working from home. Working online, socialising online and shopping online.

The one thing that makes the difference between a website being mega successful and a failure is down to the marketing. You could have the best website with the best products at the lowest prices but if no one knows you are there, you may as well not exist. If you get a website and its prominent, people can find it easily it will gain traffic, visitors and sales. Marketing a website right would be like having a shop on Oxford Street!

If I am right about this theory then what is my point? My point is that if these visitors and traffic is all electronic, Imagine what would happen if you KNEW how to direct and funnel this traffic to EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR and inturn made money from every sale… and we are talking about a global market scale! world domination? Crazy right?

Internet Marketing will be the one true key to making money in the future. You could be the air traffic controller of the digital world and become seriously rich doing so. Although this is the case and MyInternetBusiness is the perfect vehicle to learn these skills, people still look at it as a ‘too good to be true’ opportunity or some kind of scam. Considering all of these things I mention, I feel like there are so many people blinkered to the internet still… now that is the crazy thing!

The fact of the matter whether we like it or not, things are going to change and the people who are ready for this change are going to be laughing and the people who aren’t are going to be looking back wishing that they had opened their eyes and also cashed in on it.

I hope this has given a little food for thought.
